Expedite van freight moves fast and books fast. The carriers who stay loaded are the ones already approved in the broker's system when the load drops. Here is where the freight is and what approval takes.
Where can I find cargo van loads?
Cargo van and sprinter loads come from expedite networks such as Sylectus, the van filters on DAT and Truckstop, courier and final-mile contracts, and direct broker relationships. Approval normally needs active MC authority, $1,000,000 liability with $100,000 cargo, a complete carrier packet, and increasingly a connected ELD — which vans are federally exempt from but brokers still ask for.

Expedite networks
Sylectus and the expedite carrier groups move most true hot-shot van freight. Many require you to lease onto a member carrier rather than book direct.
Load boards with van filters
DAT and Truckstop both list straight-van and sprinter freight. Volume is lower than dry van but the rates on time-critical runs are strong.
Courier and final-mile contracts
Medical, pharmacy, parts and same-day courier work. Route-based, less glamorous, and it pays the insurance every month.
Direct brokers in critical industries
Automotive line-down, aerospace AOG and medical device freight is where a van earns expedite money. These accounts vet hard and stay loyal.
Not federally — a van under 10,001 lbs GVWR is exempt from the ELD mandate. In practice a growing share of brokers and carrier-vetting platforms will not release a load until they can see a connected ELD or telematics feed. ELD HUB is integrated with Highway and Trucker Tools at $15 per van per month.
Not always. Many expedite van operators lease onto a carrier that holds authority, which removes the $300 MC filing and lowers insurance requirements but also lowers the rate you keep.
Brokers commonly ask for $1,000,000 liability and $100,000 cargo even on a small van. Some medical and high-value lanes ask for more.
Once authority is active and insurance is filed, a carrier packet is usually processed within a day or two. The delay is almost always a missing certificate, an unfinished vetting profile, or an ELD connection the platform is waiting on.
