Yes. The PT-30 (Pacific Track PT30) is on the official FMCSA ELD registration list and is used by dozens of registered ELD providers, including ELD Hub. That means it passes DOT roadside inspections in every US state.
Several ELD software providers ship the PT-30 as their default hardware, including TT ELD, Factor ELD, Quantum ELD, GPS Tab, and ELD Hub. The hardware is the same across providers — what differs is the app, pricing, contract length, and support quality.
In many cases yes — the PT-30 hardware is provider-configurable. If you're switching from TT ELD, Factor ELD, or another PT-30 provider, call us at 302-404-1177 and we'll walk you through re-registering the device to ELD Hub so you don't need to buy new hardware.
Retail the PT-30 runs about $150–200 as a standalone purchase. With ELD Hub the device is included in the $15/truck/month subscription — no separate hardware fee, no shipping charge.
No. The PT-30 plugs into the diagnostic port under the dash (6-pin, 9-pin, or OBD-II depending on your truck). No wiring, no tools, no ECM programming. The driver can do it in about 5 minutes.
The PT-30 includes an embedded cellular chip that uploads logs — the cellular data is bundled into your ELD Hub subscription. No separate SIM card, no data plan to manage.
Both are FMCSA-registered OBD-II ELDs. The PT-30 is the cheaper, more common option and covers most Class 3–8 trucks. IOSiX has slightly better diagnostic data on newer vehicles and is our default recommendation for fleets running 2020+ model years. ELD Hub supports both — talk to us and we'll pick the right one for your trucks.
