Can I cancel my ELD contract early?
Yes, but most multi-year ELD agreements bill the remaining contract value when you terminate early. Read your signed agreement for the termination clause and the notice window — that document governs, not what support tells you on the phone.
What is a typical ELD early-termination fee?
Enterprise providers such as Samsara, Motive, Omnitracs and Verizon Connect commonly bill 100% of the remaining contract value, plus any unamortized hardware credit. Month-to-month providers usually charge nothing beyond the current billing period.
How much notice do I have to give?
30 to 90 days written notice before the renewal date is the norm on annual and multi-year contracts. Missing the notice window is the single most common reason a fleet gets auto-renewed into another full term.
Do I have to buy new hardware when I switch?
Not always. If you already run a PT-30 or IOSiX device you can keep it and run ELD Hub on the same hardware. Proprietary units — Samsara gateways, Geotab GO, EROAD Ehubo, Lytx DriveCam — only work on their own platform.
Will I lose my logs when I cancel?
Export at least six months of records of duty status, DVIRs and IFTA mileage before your account is deactivated. FMCSA requires you to retain those records regardless of which provider you use.
